 In 2005 I was fortunate to have had an opportunity to go to Brazil and be a part of ceremonies conducted by one of the top shaman in South America..  He showed me a great deal and the article below is very similar to the stories I was told.  I think we are in the period now that has been prophesied not just by meso American shaman but in most cultures in one way or another.. I DO SEE HOWEVER that the native Americans have the longest time period of telling the stories (without embellishments) and thus pay a lot of attention to their view of things..
