Why bother to learn about any of this?

For starters.. Do you want to be able to exercise your free will? 
In my view after practicing for about 40 years most people who consult an astrologer seem to associate astrology with a hard fated future on a timeline. Think about this and you find that the reason that HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR CENTURIES is the client has anxiety about something and the astrologer is supposed to confirm or deny the object of the anxiety. Astrology being mostly a business to earn a living doing consulting at 200 an hour will ALWAYS have a bias toward giving people what they want .. which is easy answers that do not require effort or free will so they will come back again and again. NOT ME HOWEVER. 

The astrological influences are just THAT.. Influences.. Like weather but on a higher plane. Astrological influences can seem like fate but they are really about likely and PROBABLE SITUATIONS and this is a key bit of info you need to know before going further.. 
YOUR FREE WILL IS ONLY AS STRONG AS YOU MAKE IT BY BEING INFORMED. 

IF YOU HAVE A READING by an astrologer who is not really up to doing it at a highest level of integrity..
 You might hear words like you WILL.. you must.. you are are going to .....or this specific thing or that WILL happen etc. 
And if you then BELIEVE that which is being said to you in that way as in DEFINING IT AS CERTAIN...  then you are giving up your choice and your free will and that VASTLY INCREASES the odds of that specific outcome up to almost fateful.. This is called SELF FULFILLING PROPHESY.  The danger here is not just in astrology but in most methods of reading the future timeline.. tarot tea leaves palms whatever. If you are going to allow anyone to read your future come into it armed with free will and an attitude that you are the one that makes the choices about YOUR FUTURE in any specific way. 

So the free will is indeed tricky and here is the trick. You astro chart set at the EXACT moment of birth is itself an act of free will. Your first act as YOU as a human individual was to take a breath and that is when the chart is calculated for. This initial act of free will does reveal your intention so as to be in a harmony with that TIME of choice.  Thus the chart template of your inner structures is a picture of your intention about how you want to be YOU.  Maybe consider the birth chart as a QUANTUM INSTRUCTION SHEET.. Ya the fucking directions to this puzzle called life in 4 dimensions.  Hummm .. one would think that would be a very handy thing to have access to a lot more well being. 

The more you understand the inner workings of your personality structures the better you will understand what the choice was when you became you. When I look at a birth chart it takes me 5 minutes to size up what a persons general intentions are. Some choose to be born with huge internal stress and suffer extreme events as part of their experience which acts as an accelerant for growth. . Others choose to be born in a sort of vacation mode where they spend a lot of time in low stress situations but in slow growth.. EACH HAS A PURPOSE and no judgment is necessary as one style is just as valid as the other. The world needs BOTH types to be rounded out. 

So.. ASTROLOGY IS NOT FATE. ASTROLOGY IS A MAPPING OF FREE WILL TO LIVE LIFE A CERTAIN WAY. So learn the instruction sheet and much self loathing and guilt can be avoided. In the near future I see it as LIKELY young people will be taught about this at an early enough age to avoid the mental blocks that have been passed down to them.. 

So from the perspective of a 58 year old person who got it about all this back when I was about 20..  I knew I was born with high stress and preferred fast growth through various crisis.. Certain structures in my birth chart were going to cause me to MAKE MISTAKES and thus I have learned from them. Instead of looking at my internal stress aspects as an enemy as I matured I learned to lovingly accept my flaws as gifts.  Now that does NOT mean that other people exposed to my flaws are going to always like them.. They are free to accept me as I am or not.. Those that don't like my flaws do NOT have a right to tell me I should be different than I am however. Usually I will simply forgive a judgmental person for being ignorant of my inner intentions and choose to distance myself.  

Be aware of this.
You are doing a perfect job of being you even if you don't know it.  THAT is about as far as fate goes in real astrology. If you don't have a clue about this original intention you had by coming here then your free will is limited to very meaningless choices. Get your hands on the instruction sheet and then you start to work your life in much more harmony with your original intentions.
